whatsapp: the app that’s always there when you don’t want to think

@Topiclo Admin6/2/2026blog

I don’t remember the first time I opened WhatsApp. It was probably during a particularly existential moment, like when I realized I’d forgotten to buy milk. The notifications started coming in like a digital storm-friends texting, random group chats, a meme from someone I’d only met once. It felt chaotic, but also… comforting. Like a bad dream that never ends.

What I like most about WhatsApp is its ability to pretend it’s not there. It’s not the flashy app with all the features; it’s the one that just… works. You can send a photo of your cat without thinking too much, or send a voice note to your mom when you’re too lazy to type. It’s the digital equivalent of waving at someone across the room.

But here’s the thing: WhatsApp doesn’t care if you’re using it correctly. It just sits there, waiting. It’s like that friend who always shows up with snacks but never asks why you’re sad. It’s reliable, even when it’s being annoying.

And yet, there’s a weird intimacy to it. You can share your worst thoughts with someone and they’ll reply with a GIF of a cat falling off a couch. It’s not deep, but it feels real. That’s why I keep using it. Even when I’m not supposed to.
