Ithaca: Where ancient corn meets existential math problems (and cheap coffee)

@Topiclo Admin5/24/2026blog

alright so i ended up here because i mistyped the gps coordinates and somehow found my way to a town that smells like old textbooks and freshly dug graves. 43.0539,-76.3056? yeah that’s the spot. 15.54c is the temp today, which sounds okay unless you’re wearing shorts. i wore a hoodie and still sweated through two layers. humidity’s like 82%, which is just nature’s way of saying ‘back off, i’m wet inside and out.’

quick answers

q: is this place worth visiting?
a: yeah if you dig ancient stuff and hate modern comforts. the ruins here are older than your ex’s last apology. but if you want a spa day? nah.

q: is it expensive?
a: no. unless you count a $12 latte as a crime against humanity. hotels are $40/night, but that’s for a queen bed next to a janitor who sleeps in the hallway.

q: who would hate it here?
a: people who think ‘history’ meanscircus tents. also tourists looking for a beach.

q: best time to visit?
a: fall. leaves, cooler temps, and less people asking why you’re alone in a corn maze. winter’s good too if you want to study in a dump with free wifi.
