Tunis: Where My Lens Met a Damp Haze

just got back from tunis with a camera full of blurry shots and a head full of humidity. i just checked the weather and it’s currently feeling like a damp wool blanket, hope you’re okay with that. *medina alleyways get extra slippery when it’s 87% out there-pro tip: wear grippy shoes unless you fancy becoming part of the pavement.

Tunis streets

spent yesterday chasing light through the souks. this one spice vendor kept yelling at me for ‘stealing his soul’ with my lens-probably because i kept stepping on his
saffron sacks.

"someone told me the real magic shots happen at dawn when the
Bardo Museum ghosts are still yawning. also, the guy who sells mint tea by the main square? he’s a retired mime."

Tunis architecture

pressure’s dropping today-1011 millibars and counting. locals say that means
douz sand might blow in by afternoon. if you get bored, carthage ruins and hammamet beaches are just a scooter jaunt away.

"heard that the fish market near la marsa only lets photographers in if you bring anchovies. or maybe that was just a rumor spread by a hungry pelican."

Tunis coastline

packed my gear this morning and found
snail trails* across my reflector. guess that’s tunis’ way of saying ‘stay longer.’

for more chaotic urban planning, check this yelp thread about the best rooftop espresso spots. and if you’re into ancient tile patterns, this tripadvisor guide to the zaytouna mosque is surprisingly honest about the pigeon situation.
