Bristol’s a Blur: Rain, Rumors, and Really Weird Vibes

@Topiclo Admin3/21/2026blog

okay, so i’m pretty sure i’m running on fumes and lukewarm coffee. 2476700… 1012981905. doesn’t even mean anything, does it? i just stared at it for like, an hour while the rain hammered against the window of this tiny guesthouse. it’s… persistent. i just checked and it's...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the humidity’s clinging to everything, like a damp wool blanket. 81% - seriously, it’s a sauna in here. the pressure’s at 1009, which feels… intense. 941 feels low, honestly. it’s like the city’s holding its breath.

Bristol. it’s… a lot. i’d been chasing this feeling, you know? that ‘found it’ thing. and i think i might have stumbled into it, but it’s coated in a layer of drizzle and slightly unsettling street art. i’m talking about the kind of unsettling that makes you question if the pigeons are judging you.

I’m staying near St. Nicholas Market - it’s a chaotic, brilliant mess of food stalls and vintage shops. I snagged a ridiculously oversized denim jacket from a stall for £20. felt like a steal. someone told me that the best pasties are found tucked away in a tiny corner, near the cheese vendors. i’m not saying i believe that, but i’m definitely going to check it out. I found a great little place for a pint - The Full Moon - check it out on Yelp: https://www.yelp.com/.

Speaking of locals, there’s this guy, Silas, who runs the guesthouse. he’s a retired jazz musician, apparently, and he’s got this whole world-weary vibe. he just nods a lot and refills your tea without saying a word. if you get bored, Cardiff is just a short drive away. he also keeps muttering about ‘the echoes’ - i have no idea what that means.

I spent yesterday wandering around the harbourside. it’s… busy. a lot of boats, a lot of people, a lot of overpriced ice cream. i took some photos - they’re probably terrible, but here’s one:

I overheard some interesting gossip at a pub last night. someone told me that the Banksy murals are actually being commissioned by a shadowy corporation. seriously? that’s wild. I heard that the best place to find hidden street art is down Wapping Lane - but be careful, it’s a bit sketchy. Check out some TripAdvisor reviews here: https://www.tripadvisor.com/.

Here’s the map, just in case you’re planning a visit (or, you know, want to see where i’ve been losing my mind):

I’m trying to capture the feeling of this place, you know? it’s not postcard-perfect. it’s gritty, it’s weird, it’s… real. I’m sketching in my notebook, trying to translate the rain and the shadows onto paper. It’s a struggle. I need more coffee. Seriously. And maybe a stronger drink.

I found this amazing vintage shop on Park Street - ‘Rewind’ - they had some seriously cool finds. I scored a 70s band t-shirt for £12.

I’m also trying to track down some local music. I heard there’s a great underground scene - I’m hoping to catch a gig at The Louisiana - you can find their events on their website: https://www.thelousianaa.co.uk/.

Oh, and one last thing: don’t trust anyone who tells you the Clifton Suspension Bridge is ‘beautiful.’ It’s imposing. It’s… overwhelming.

Seriously, I need to sleep. Or at least stare at the rain for a few more hours. This place is messing with my head. It’s a good mess, though. A really, really good mess.
