samba city secrets and a questionable coffee shop
i was supposed to be writing this post hours ago but i kept getting distracted by a street musician playing a broken guitar outside my hostel. the weather here is...there right now, hope you like the kind of thing where you can either wear a raincoat or just accept youāll get soaked by the time you finish your coffee. i checked the numbers and itās 15.15 degrees, which is basically a lukewarm hug from the universe.
someone told me that the locals here believe the cityās soul is hidden in a dusty archive downtown. i didnāt ask for details but i heard theyāre supposed to whisper secrets to the pages if youāre lucky. maybe iāll try that next time.
donāt trust the guy in the blue van, heās definitely not a tour guide.
i overheard that from a group of tourists who were clearly too high to remember their own names. iām not sure if itās a warning or a meme, but iām taking it seriously.
the neighbors? if you get bored, samba city is just a short drive away for a change of pace. or you could just wander into the nearest market and buy a cactus. itās cheap, itās alive, and itās probably judging your life choices.
i found a yelp review that said "this coffee is like drinking regret in a cup." i donāt know if itās true but iām buying a second cup anyway. the shopās owned by a woman who claims sheās a former astronaut. i donāt believe her but iām buying a pastry.
if youāre into random facts, check out the tripadvisor page for the cityās oldest library. some people say itās haunted. others say itās just really old. iām in the camp of maybe.
i heard that the street artist who painted the giant mural of a dancing llama here is actually a former math teacher. i donāt know if thatās true but iām 70% sure. the mural is probably worth a look if youāre into chaotic art.
i just checked and itās...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the wind is carrying the smell of bread and regret. maybe itās a good day to be outside.
for more chaos, visit the local board where people post weird job opportunities. i saw one that said "we need a raccoon handler." i didnāt apply but iām still haunted by the image.
this place is messy. the weather is messy. the stories are messy. but thatās the point. if youāre looking for perfection, leave. this is where the real samba happens.
