Roaming the Eternal City: A Drummer's Guide to Rome

okay so i'm sitting here in rome after a crazy tour gig, and my hands still ache from the cymbals. the weather? it's 16.46°C right now, which is like that perfect 'i don't need a jacket but i might regret it later' kind of day. humidity's at 57%, so my hair's doing that weird wavy thing again. if you're into crisp mornings and slightly sweaty afternoons, this is your vibe.

rome is a beast. it's loud, it's chaotic, and it's absolutely alive. i stayed near the colosseum, which is cool until you realize every tourist in the world also stayed there. my drummer friend once told me, 'if you want quiet, you're in the wrong city.' he wasn't wrong.

one night, i followed some drunk advice from a bartender and ended up at a tiny jazz club in trastevere. it was so underground i'm pretty sure the stage was held together with duct tape and hope. but man, the energy? unreal. if you're into live music, check out *romo jazz club or just wander until you hear something that makes you stop.

food-wise, i ate so much i thought my stomach might file a complaint. someone told me to try the carbonara at da enzo al 29, and now i'm ruined for all other pasta. also, the gelato at gelateria del teatro*? criminal how good it is.

if you get bored, naples and florence are just a short train ride away. i didn't make it this time, but i heard naples has pizza that'll make you cry and florence has art that'll make you question your life choices.

oh, and the neighbors? yeah, they're loud. like, 'why are they arguing about soccer at 2am' loud. but that's rome. it doesn't whisper; it shouts.

i just checked and it's still 16.46°c there right now, hope you like that kind of thing.
