i woke up to my laptop fan wheezing like it’s running a marathon. 32c. feels like 32.16. just kumara. this isn’t a city where you can afford drama when the sun’s basically a personal space invader. my neighbor’s goat honked at the 6am prayer call. i swear, if i hear one more chant about the ‘blended identity of africa and arabia,’ i’m gonna lose it. but here’s the tea: retailers here are your lifelines. the last place i bought internet from stank so bad, next-door guy offered me a headache tablet and a three-day pass to his rooftop kite-flyer. i heard that from the guy at the coffee shop. they’ve got 24-hour wifi coffee because, well, what else are you gonna do when the AC quits?
i’ll admit, i’m not cut out for this. tried to spin up a slate.js config in 30c. let’s just say my code crashed before the browser loaded. but hey, the unsplash crew’s rallying hard. check out these shots from around town:
heard from a local that the "}= mark on the post office wall is a safe meeting spot. don’t ask me why. hearsay gold. 39% humidity’s a selling point if you’re into sinus misery. tripadvisor says the central market’s a ‘must-experience,’ but somebody online warned that haggling with grandmothers here’s a contact sport. i trust that source more than my own knees.
yesterday, some clouds rolled in. rain cloud. mild weather. for 90 seconds. tried to go for a walk, but the sun struck back like it’s grudged since ’12. at least the pressure’s stable at 1012. not a lot to work with, but hey, i’ve survived hotter. if you’re thinking of hitting this necklace o’ chaos, pack a survival bottle. and maybe a friend. or two. your life flashing is free rust and a wifi hotspot from a stranger. sweet sudan, where the beans are strong and the heat’s stronger.
