holland, michigan: tulips, wind, and a weird little secret

so i found myself in holland, michigan, because someone told me the tulips were insane and i needed a break from my usual grind. turns out, they weren't lying. the fields were like someone spilled a giant bag of skittles across the landscape. windmills spinning lazily in the background, people posing for photos like it's their job, and me just trying not to step on the flowers because i'm clumsy like that.

and here's the weird little secret: there's this tiny alleyway near the downtown area that's covered in murals. i stumbled on it by accident while trying to find a bathroom. it's not on any map, and it's easy to miss, but it's worth the detour. someone said it's where local artists go to practice without getting in trouble, but who knows.

anyway, holland is one of those places that's easy to underestimate. it's not flashy, but it's got this quiet charm that sneaks up on you. if you're into tulips, windmills, and a little bit of weirdness, it's worth a visit.
