Dublin: Rainy Streets, Warm Hearts, and One Very Lost Tourist

dive straight into the chaos of dublin’s cobblestone streets, where the rain feels like a personal attack and the locals greet you like you’re family. i just checked and it's 7.35°c with a feels-like of 1.99°c there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. i’m typing this from a damp corner of a pub, nursing a pint of guinness, and trying to figure out why i thought a march trip to ireland was a good idea. spoiler: it wasn’t. but somehow, it’s perfect.

i landed at dublin airport, grabbed my bag, and immediately got lost trying to find the airlink bus. *the bus driver laughed when i asked if we were going to the city center. “yeah, mate, unless you wanted to end up in galway by mistake,” he said. classic dublin humor. the ride in was a blur of green fields and graffiti-covered walls, and i swear i saw a rainbow. or maybe that was just the rain playing tricks on me.

first stop: trinity college. i heard that the book of kells is worth the hype, but the real treasure is the long room library. it’s like stepping into a harry potter movie, if harry potter had more dust and less magic. i spent an embarrassing amount of time trying to take the perfect photo, only to realize i’d forgotten to charge my camera.
rookie mistake.

for lunch, i wandered into a place called leo burdock’s, because someone told me that’s where you get the best fish and chips in town. the line was out the door, and the guy in front of me swore it was worth the wait. he was right. the chips were crispy, the fish was flaky, and i burned my tongue because i couldn’t wait to eat it.
pro tip:* bring napkins. you’ll need them.

i’ve been here three days, and i’m still not sure if dublin is a city or a really elaborate prank. the weather changes every five minutes, the streets are a maze, and the pubs are the only places that make sense. i overheard a local say, “you haven’t seen dublin until you’ve seen it drunk,” and honestly, i’m starting to believe it.

if you get bored, belfast and galway are just a short drive away, but honestly, why would you leave? dublin’s got enough charm to keep you busy for weeks. just don’t forget your umbrella. or your sense of humor. you’ll need both.
