Buenos Aires: A Whirlwind in Argentina
okay, so i’m still processing. literally. i just got back from Buenos Aires, and my brain feels like it’s doing the tango. i know, i know, it’s a cliché, but it’s true!
first off, the weather? there right now, a bit nippy, but the sun’s peeking through. i just checked and it’s...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. it’s the kind of weather that makes you want to grab a scarf and wander the streets.
i’m a *vegan and found so many great cafes. the food scene here is…it’s intense. i heard that El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore is a must-see. seriously gorgeous. you can see the original theater facade. i also did a food tour on Yelp and it was amazing, a real peek into local flavors. i am still trying to figure out the best empanada spot - recommendations welcome!
neighbors are a mix of old and new - bustling neighborhoods next to quiet, residential areas. it's really cool to see the contrast. if you get bored, Córdoba is just a short drive away, and Mendoza is a wine lover's paradise. seriously, book a weekend trip.
so, what’s the vibe? it's chaotic, romantic, and completely overwhelming in the best possible way. the street art? insane. the tango? everywhere. i'm still trying to master a few moves.
Someone told me that the Palermo Soho neighborhood is a maze of cool shops and cafes. Apparently, it’s the place to go if you want to get lost in the best way possible - and if you're looking for unique souvenirs.
honestly, the people are amazing. so welcoming and kind, even when you're completely butchering the Spanish. and the coffee? seriously good. i'm a total coffee snob, and this place delivers. i'm seeing a lot about this place called Café Tortoni, and it totally sounds like the place to go for a historic coffee.
i also heard someone warned me about the crowds in La Boca during peak season... so maybe i’ll skip that one next time. i’m trying to be a little more mindful of the local customs.
I heard that there are amazing tango lessons offered in San Telmo. Apparently, it's a whole community thing.
the whole experience was just… a sensory overload. amazing food, incredible architecture, and a culture that’s so different from anything i’ve ever experienced. i’m already planning my next trip back. seriously considering a return to Buenos Aires. i'm so jealous of all the pictures people are posting on Instagram*.
seriously though, just go. write it down. book that flight. you won't regret it.
