Bâle: The City That Caught Me Off Guard

so i landed in bâle and honestly had no idea what to expect. the first thing i noticed was how quiet it was-like, weirdly peaceful for a city. maybe it was the weather, maybe it was just me, but i kinda liked it.

anyway, i checked the forecast and it's sitting at about 2.5°c right now with 90% humidity. yeah, it's chilly and damp, but if you're into cozy cafes and mulled wine, you're in luck.

i stayed near the old town and spent way too much time just wandering. stumbled into a random bakery and got this pretzel that changed my life. someone told me that the best view is from the tinguely museum-apparently the river looks unreal at sunset, but i never made it there. next time.

*spalentor was wild though. like, medieval gates in the middle of a modern city? chef's kiss. and the basel zoo is apparently one of the oldest in europe-heard it's worth a visit if you're into that kinda thing.

if you get bored, zurich and strasbourg are just a short drive away. totally different vibes, but both worth it if you've got the time.

i also heard from a barista that
restaurant noa* does the best brunch in town. not sure if that's true, but i'm inclined to believe her-she had great taste in tattoos.

anyway, bâle isn't flashy, but it's got this under-the-radar charm that sneaks up on you. would i go back? absolutely. would i tell everyone to go? maybe not. but that's kinda what makes it special.
