Bangalore Buzz: Humidity, History, and a Whole Lotta Chai

@Topiclo Admin3/20/2026blog

okay, so. bangalore. i’m still peeling the city off my skin, honestly. it’s like… a warm hug from a very enthusiastic, slightly damp towel. i just checked and it's hovering around thirty-one degrees, feels like thirty point seven. not complaining, exactly. i’m used to sweating, but this is a different kind of sweat. This is… Bangalore sweat.

I’m here scouting locations for a short film - indie, obviously. Think gritty realism meets vibrant chaos. It’s a tough brief, but bangalore seems to be throwing everything it has at me. The light is insane, the textures are incredible, and the sheer energy of the place is palpable. I’ve been wandering around for days, mostly just getting lost and drinking chai. Lots and lots of chai.

I stumbled into this amazing little cafe in *Indiranagar yesterday. Seriously, look it up on Yelp - it’s called ‘The Humming Tree.’ Apparently, they have live music some nights. I was too tired to stay, but the smell of cardamom and something vaguely floral was intoxicating. Someone told me that the coffee there is “life-changing.” I’m skeptical, but I’ll give it a shot.

Speaking of skeptical, I overheard some serious gossip at a dosa place near
MG Road. Apparently, there’s a hidden temple tucked away behind a textile market. It’s supposed to be ancient, with carvings that predate the British. I’m going to try and find it tomorrow. Wish me luck. I’m also checking out some of the historical sites listed on TripAdvisor. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g319732-Activities-Bangalore_Karnataka.html

My room is… cozy. Let’s go with cozy. It’s in
Shantinagar, which is surprisingly quiet, considering. If you get bored, Chennai and Hyderabad are just a short drive away. I’m trying to be productive, but honestly, the heat is making it hard to concentrate. I spent a good hour just watching a lizard sunbathe on my windowsill. It was a very zen experience.

“Don’t trust the auto drivers,” a very drunk man advised me last night. “They’ll take you in circles just to run up the fare.” He was right. I ended up paying double what I should have. Lesson learned.

I’m trying to capture the vibe of the city, you know? The juxtaposition of old and new, the chaos and the calm. It’s a sensory overload, but in a good way. I’m also trying to find some interesting street art. I heard there’s a whole mural project happening in
Koramanagala*. https://www.streethuntindia.com/bangalore-street-art/

I’ve been documenting everything with my camera, of course. It’s a constant battle against the humidity, but the light is worth it. I’m thinking of doing a series on the city’s textile markets. They’re a riot of color and texture. I’m also checking out local forums for tips on the best places to photograph. https://bangalore.citizenmatters.in/

Someone else warned me about the traffic. “It’s like a swarm of bees,” they said. They weren’t wrong. Crossing the street is an extreme sport. I’m also trying to find some good vintage shops. I’m hoping to score some authentic Indian textiles. I’m checking out some local listings on Justdial. https://www.justdial.com/bangalore/vintage-clothing-stores/

Okay, I need more chai. And maybe a fan. And possibly a new career. But for now, I’m sticking around to see what else this crazy city has to offer.
