Austin Anarchy: Lost in the Live Music & Humidity

okay, so. austin. what even is austin? honestly, i’m still processing. i arrived with a vague plan - see some music, eat some tacos, maybe not spontaneously combust from the heat. and, uh… yeah. it’s been a day. the numbers i was given before arriving? 4714131 and 1840021341. no clue what those mean, but they felt… significant. like a secret code to unlock the city’s soul.

The weather here is something else. they said temp was 13.11°C, feels like 12.7°C, but the humidity? a thick blanket. honestly, i just checked and it’s… a heavy, clinging sort of warmth, hope you like that kind of thing. it's like someone wrapped you in a damp towel and then cranked up the volume on the sun.

I’m staying in a little Airbnb near Zilker Park - which, btw, is gorgeous. Lots of people just chilling there, doing yoga or frisbee things. The neighbors are a weird mix. Lots of folks with serious flower crowns and a palpable energy of… groundedness. If you get bored, San Antonio is just a short drive away. or maybe just wander down to South Congress and soak it all in.

My first night was a blur of live music. I wandered into a tiny bar on 6th street and ended up watching a band play covers of Prince. The sound was a little… chaotic, but in a good way. you know? like a controlled explosion. someone told me that if you want real Austin music, you gotta head to the Continental Club. I heard that the wait to get in can be intense though, so maybe go early.

I was trying to find a good breakfast spot, and someone on a local Facebook group recommended Veracruz All Natural. Apparently, their breakfast tacos are legendary. I'm gonna check them out tomorrow. Also, apparently, parking is a nightmare. Just a heads up.

I spent a solid hour just wandering around downtown, people-watching. There's this energy here, this constant buzz of creativity and… well, just being. it's intoxicating. i also saw a street artist doing some crazy murals near Congress Avenue bridge. You can check out some of their work here.

I'm planning on hitting up the Blanton Museum of Art later this week - apparently, they have a really impressive collection. And i need to find a good coffee shop. I’m a coffee snob, okay? No, really, it's a serious commitment. I heard that Jo's Coffee has a great vibe, but it's always packed.

I’m feeling a little overwhelmed, but in a good way. Austin’s definitely not for the faint of heart. It’s loud, it’s humid, and it’s wonderfully, unapologetically itself. I might just get lost in the music and the sunshine. Or maybe just sweat a lot. Either way, it's an adventure.

Seriously, if you go, wear sunscreen. And bring a hat. And maybe a portable fan. You’ll thank me later.
