almería, maybe this is where my next wifi spot is | digital nomad ramblings
i woke up to the smell of sea salt and something like espresso. not sure if that’s a good thing or if i’m still dreaming. maybe both. the temp’s stuck at 11.88 which honestly feels like a chill bath. not too hot, not too cold. just...there. i just checked and it’s...that cool-climby morning mist right now, hope you like that kind of thing. if you get bored, almería’s artsy sister city, carthage, is just a short drive. you might find better vibes there.
the locals here are doing their thing. someone told me that the coffee shops are overrated, but then again, i heard that from a guy who also swore the siesta was a scam. maybe listen to both?
i took this pic of a cliffside mess of old houses and greenery. not sure why i did. maybe because the light was weird. or because i forgot to take my camera. either way, here it is.
there’s this thing about the sea level pressure here. 1019 hpa? whatever. it’s not like anyone cares as long as the waves aren’t hitting your flip-flops.
i heard that the street artist here paints people into scarring their arms. seems legit. or maybe it’s a myth. probably a myth. i also saw a board post about a hostel that supposedly has free pizza at 2am. is this true? who knows. maybe ask the guy who runs the board. tripadvisor says it’s a 4.2 rating for weirdness. yelp? i don’t trust yelp.
i’m a digital nomad so i care about wifi. almería’s internet is...here. sometimes. like when the rain isn’t messing with the lines. the temp min and max are both 11.88. sounds like a glitch. or maybe the weather gods are testing me. i don’t know.
there’s a rumor that the nearest mountains have hidden caves. or maybe that’s just the beer vendor shouting at me. either way, i’m not sure i want to find out. if you like quiet, maybe skip the beach at night. the same person who told me about the pizza hostel also warned about the neighbors playing boom-bap at 3am. is this true? probably. just pack headphones.
