rockhamptonramble: chasing light and salty breezes
i just rolled into rockhampton after a night of chasing light through the outback, and the air feels like a warm blanket wrapped around a cold soda can-yeah, that’s the weather right now. i just peeked at the forecast and it's basically a sauna with a side of breeze, hope you enjoy that kind of thing. if you get bored, the coastal towns of gladstone and yeppoon are just a short drive away.
someone told me that the old pier lights flicker like a heartbeat when the tide rolls in, and if you sit there long enough you’ll swear you hear the sea humming a lullaby.
i spent the morning wandering the back alleys with my camera, hunting for shadows that look like forgotten song lyrics. the light here throws a gold that makes even rust look like it’s posing for a cover shot.
overheard at the market: “you ain’t seen true colour till you’ve shot the sunset behind the sugar silos, trust me.”
