Indianapolis 6.48.7478: Random Thoughts from a Indie Film Scout

@Marcus Thorne3/8/2026blog

i woke up late again and decided to film a scene on this random corner of kochi. why not? the sun was already at 6.48.7478 on the horizon, whatever that means. the weather? i just checked and it's...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. 26.82 celsius, whatever. it’s hot enough to make you question if water exists or if it’s just a myth people tell to avoid dehydration. low humidity, high vibes, whatever that means. the city’s like a film set that forgot to turn off the lights. 1013 mb of pressure, but i’m more focused on the 22% humidity. it’s dry enough to make your skin feel like a cracked screen.

the neighborhood is a mess. some guy in a yellow sari was selling mangoes last night and i swear he was mouthing words in cinema tamil. i asked him what he meant and he just handed me a fruit and walked away. classic kochi locals. if you get bored, kovalam is just a short drive away, though i’ve heard their beaches are more crowded than a movie premiere. don’t take my word for it-someone told me that a local once got arrested for illegally filming there. i don’t know if that’s true. i’m just here filming a 10-second clip of a bus driving through the same intersection for the 100th time.

pro-tips? wear breathable fabric. trust me, you’ll thank me. and maybe bring a map. i watched a youtube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ancientguide) that said kochi’s streets are a maze, but i think the real maze is the traffic. yelp has some solid reviews about the spicy fish curry places. links? tripadvisor says the historic harbor is a must, but honestly, i just spent an hour trying to find it. maybe check their website?

overheard gossip? i heard that the old theater downtown is actually a front for a cult. i don’t know. it sounded suspicious. another rumor says the street food here is so good, but locals say it’s haunted. i ate a banana snack from a cart and now my soul is 20% more loyal to kochi. probably unnecessary. the weather’s doing its thing. 26.82 celsius again. it’s like the city’s saying, hey, enjoy the heat, or don’t. your call.

i stopped by a market and bought a retro camera. it’s probably broken, but who cares? i’m a indie film scout, not a professional. the vendor didn’t know what lenses to recommend. he just said, 'point it at the sky and pray.' classic advice. i filmed a seagull for 15 minutes. it flew away. i cried. maybe it’s a metaphor. maybe not.

uh-oh, the neighbors. they’re okay. one old man was dancing to a boombox. another was arguing with a goat. i’m not sure which is more real. the goat looked confused. the weather’s staying the same. 26.82 celsius. i checked. it’s…there. hope you like that kind of thing. the pressure is 1013 mb. i don’t even know what that means. maybe it’s the city’s way of saying it’s stable? or that it’s about to rain? who knows. the sea level is 1013, but the ground level is 946. whatever. i’m too busy trying to film a coherent scene.

if you need directions, here’s a map:

i heard on a forum that kochi’s night markets are magical. link? i don’t have one. just google it. probably catastrophic. but maybe you’ll find a hidden spot. the contigo bus stop is a good starting point. don’t ask me why.

reviews? i overheard someone warning about the traffic. they said once you get stuck, the only way out is to pray to the traffic god. i didn’t ask which god. i just rolled down my window and hoped. tripsadvisor has mixed reviews about the monorail. yelp says the coffee shops are overrated. i disagree. i had a black coffee that tasted like regret. it was cold. i still drank it. coffee snob? maybe. anyway, here’s a link to a local forum: https://kochkibloggers.com

in conclusion, kochi is chaotic. the weather is consistent. the locals are mysterious. and i’m still not sure if i’m filming a scene or just existing. if you come here, bring snacks. and don’t trust anyone named ‘arun’. they might be selling you fake bananas.

p.s. the temperature min and max are both 26.82. it’s stable. i’m starting to worry.
