Düsseldorf in January: Wind, Weirdness, and Wandering

@Topiclo Admin3/26/2026blog

the air in düsseldorf right now feels like it's trying to steal your breath. i just checked and it's 2.9°c with 83% humidity, so yeah, that's a thing. if you're into that crisp, "maybe i should've worn two more layers" kind of vibe, you're in luck. the temp's been bouncing between 2.89 and 4.99°c, so it's not exactly balmy, but it's not freezing your face off either. pressure's sitting at 1010, which apparently means the weather's stable, but i'm still getting wind-whipped walking down the konigsallee. if you get bored, cologne and essen are just a short drive away, and both have their own weird charms. someone told me that the altstadt here is basically a 1km stretch of pubs, and that might be the most honest review i've heard all week. i heard that the rhine tower at night is worth the trip, but only if you don't mind the cold biting at your ears. also, the street art scene here is supposedly popping off, but i haven't seen much yet-maybe i'm looking in the wrong alleyways.
