Another Day, Another £ti O Lazy Sunday in Brasília: Sweat, Cheese, and That One Weird Cat
i woke up and immediately regretted it. or maybe it was the heat?
turns out, brazilians don’t use the word "sundays" correctly. this was clearly a monday. thankfully, the coffeeshop downstairs from my hostel was open. strong, slightly burnt, and the barista looked like he’d swallowed a whole pack of menthol cigarettes. i gave him a smile and he trashed it. weird vibes.
later, i wandered into an ice cream place called “La Sófia”. the guys behind the counter spoke like they were chewing glass. one of them shouted something about “bad energy” when i asked for extra seeds. i nodded and paid 15 reais for something that tasted like someone microwaved a pineapple upset about its life choices. oh well.
so, while i was eating vanille ice cream outside, this rotund cat waddled past me. it had a collar with a tiny mirror. mirror. of course. for some reason, i wanted to pet it. it squinted at me like i’d insulted its god. finally, it jumped into a gutter and vanished. maybe it was a wizard. or maybe it was just hungry.
i checked the weather again. 26.44 degrees, feels like... same. if you like broom closet vibes and a hint of melted plastic, congrats, you’re welcome.
the hostel owner told me about this weird neighborhood near Praçis. said there’s this park with giant bees that chase kids. don’t know if it’s true but i’m not taking risks. asked him for a recommendation: “go to presentation wrestlers in greencenter?” sounded like a scam. but hey, if you get bored, [belém] is just a short walk away. or so he said.
someone brought up hiking onhup. i heard that place is haunted. or at least, everyone who went missing there was last seen at that cliff. not sure if it’s real but the vibe is intense.
so here’s my plan: find la sofia for more ice cream, maybe follow the cat’s footsteps, and pray the bees like me. i’ll bring a camera. and maybe a sword. who knows.
