Warsaw's abandoned piers: where concrete meets forgotten graffiti nightmares
the streets screamed at me long before the subway grumbled about delays. I’m here, a 28-year-old street artist with a paint-splattered backpack, cursing the metro’s 18-minute crawl to the Commonwealth Army ruins. the weather? i just checked and it’s 4.59°C, feels like 4.59°C-perfect for painting while numb. okay, not perfect, but I’m allergic to AC anyway.
they say this place is a “revitalization priority.” lies. the piers look like fridge-freezer art left by some cosmic drug trip. concrete slumped under rusted beams, vines like wild hair on a 19th-century ghost. my fingers hate me. they’ve got 95% humidity inside my pockets.
someone told me that bartending here makes me a war criminal, but I’d rather mix cocktails at the Anti-Hero Café than let a Helsinki셰프 ruin my crescent rolls. the locals? all stoic. older than the bones under the pavement. drank ketchup with a friend from Minsk-
at least the views are free. from the Bellevue Docks’ cracked stone, you can see the Vistula shoving itself into Warsaw Nitro. not romantic. more like a addict’s last binge. my first review? some drunk gringo at the Hostel complained about the WiFi… meanwhile, I’m sketching a rats’ migration map. priorities.
mint tea? no. escaliss coffee? definitely. but my go-to? the grimy corner of the Kto Autu Bar where the DJ drops Viktor Tillmann records off-key. they told me the WiFi’s trash. half-true. I’m writing this on a sketch of the American Embassy’s cracked sidewalk, which is weirdly inspiring.

someone else warned: “avoid the piers after dark.” they knew the crows. I saw a man feeding them breadcrumbs like some kind of… conspiracy theorist. the pigeons, though-they’re all eyeing me. survival of the shabbiest.
[drunk tip: never trust a local with the phrase ‘this is how it’s done.’ they’ve been lying since January]
p.s. my best piece? a half-visible stegosaurus on the seventh pier. no one asked. no one should ask. *vodles nearby: worth it. lunch at filtry_cafe: worth it. unicorn café?* ghost story. go there anyway.
