Tokyo Vibes and the Crazy Weather That Followed Me Around

tokyo is one of those places that feels like it’s always awake. i landed here after a long flight, still half-dreaming, and the city hit me like a wave of neon and noise. the weather was doing its own thing-one minute it felt like a crisp autumn morning, the next i was sweating through my shirt. according to the numbers i saw, it was sitting around 16.21°C with a feels-like of 15.32°C, but honestly, it felt more like the city was playing tricks on me. humidity was at 55%, which isn’t bad, but the way the air clung to my skin made it feel thicker than that. i just checked and it's...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing.

i stayed in shibuya, mostly because i heard the crossing was a must-see, but also because someone told me that the coffee shops there are worth the hype. i ended up at this tiny place called *streamer coffee company, and yeah, the latte art was next level. not gonna lie, i felt like a tourist snapping pics, but whatever-it was good coffee. if you get bored, yokohama and kawasaki are just a short train ride away, and i heard they’ve got their own weird charm.

one night, i met this guy at a bar who swore the best ramen in tokyo was at
ichiran. he was pretty drunk, so i took it with a grain of salt, but i went anyway. turns out, he wasn’t wrong. the booth setup is kinda weird-like, you eat alone in a little cubicle-but the broth? chef’s kiss. i also overheard someone saying that tsukiji outer market is touristy but still worth it for the fresh sushi. i didn’t argue.

exploring tokyo felt like being in a video game where every corner had a new quest. i wandered into
harajuku thinking i’d see the famous takeshita street chaos, and yeah, it was packed. i bought a crepe because everyone else was, and it was fine. not life-changing, but fine. the vintage shops there, though? absolute gold. i found a japan jacket that i probably didn’t need but bought anyway.

the weather kept shifting, and i swear it was following me. one day it was sunny and perfect for walking around
akihabara, the next it was overcast and moody, which actually suited the vibe of shimokitazawa better. i spent hours in the thrift stores there, digging through racks of clothes that smelled like someone else’s past. it was weirdly comforting.

i also took a day trip to
nikko because i heard the temples were something else. the train ride was beautiful, all green hills and misty mountains. when i got there, the air was cooler, and the temples were exactly as peaceful as i’d hoped. someone at my hostel said kamakura was another good option for a day trip, but i didn’t have time. next visit, maybe.

opposite to what i expected, tokyo didn’t feel overwhelming after the first day. it just felt alive. like the city was breathing, and i was lucky enough to be part of it for a little while. if you’re planning a trip, just go. don’t overthink it. and maybe bring a jacket-because that weather? it’s unpredictable.
