Seattle's Low Hum: A Post-Flight Brain Dump

okay, so i just landed in seattle. feels like a really intense hug made of damp air and coffee. the weather? i just checked and it's...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. it’s that classic seattle drizzle, the kind that makes everything look a little bit melancholic, but also kinda cozy.

went straight to Pike Place Market. seriously, it’s a sensory overload in the best way possible. the fish throwing, the flowers, the smells… it’s a total vibe. i grabbed a ridiculously overpriced but delicious salmon sandwich and just wandered around, trying to soak it all in. if you get bored, portland is just a short drive away, and they've got amazing food carts. check out Yelp for some recommendations. *Definitely try the local clam chowder - someone told me it's a Seattle essential.

heard a rumor from a guy at the coffee shop (the one with the ridiculously long line - worth it, trust me) that the original Starbucks was actually a coffee bean warehouse. wild, right? i also overheard someone complaining about the price of avocados - apparently, it’s a real thing here. pretty sure someone warned me about how the rain can be relentless, so pack a good raincoat.

Gear List (because, duh):
Raincoat (obviously)
Comfortable walking shoes (you’ll do a lot of walking)
Portable charger (seriously, everything dies fast)
Water bottle (stay hydrated, even in the drizzle)
Layers (the weather is unpredictable)

spent a little time at a used bookstore near the waterfront. seriously good finds there. they had a whole section dedicated to local history - fascinating stuff. i heard that the Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) is incredible, but it’s a bit of a trek. Check out TripAdvisor for more attractions.

random thought: the street art in the different neighborhoods is pretty cool. i’ll try to find some later. *Don’t miss* Kerry Park for a stunning view of the Space Needle - but be prepared for crowds. See what other people are saying on Yelp.

right now, i’m just sitting in a little cafe, sipping a ridiculously strong coffee and trying to process everything. seattle has this weird charm, a blend of rain and ambition. it’s definitely different from anywhere i’ve been before. i’m off to explore some more. keep an eye out for my next post - hopefully with less jet lag!
