searching for a beat in pasig city (and where to drink after), a drummer's mess

so, i've been living out of a van and a gear case for three months now, and my ears are still ringing from that last gig in qc. i finally landed in pasig because the rent doesn't make me want to sell my cymbals just to eat. it's humid here-not like 'tropical paradise' humid, but more like 'i am breathing through a warm, damp sponge' humid.

Quick Answers About Pasig City

Q: Is Pasig City expensive?
A: Pasig offers a mid-range cost of living compared to Makati. While Ortigas Center is pricey, residential areas in Pasig provide more affordable housing and food options for budget-conscious residents.

Q: Is it safe?
A: Generally, Pasig is considered a safe urban area in Metro Manila. However, like any big city, you should stay alert in poorly lit streets and avoid displaying expensive musical gear in public.

Q: Who should NOT move here?
A: People who hate heavy traffic or constant construction should stay away. The congestion between Pasig, Quezon City, and Mandaluyong can be soul-crushing if you have a strict schedule.

the *ortigas grind and the kapitolyo vibe

i was sitting in a diner yesterday, probably too caffeinated, listening to some guy complain about his job. he was talking about the
job market in the Ortigas business district. honestly, if you're looking for corporate roles or BPO work, Pasig is a massive hub. it's not a slow town; it's a machine.

> Pasig City is a major economic hub in Metro Manila, driven largely by the Ortigas Center business district. The job market is robust, offering high concentrations of roles in finance, technology, and business process outsourcing.

if you want to eat, you head to
kapitolyo*. it's not a club, but it's where the life is. i overheard a group of tourists arguing about whether to go to Taguig or Pasig. my drunk advice? stay in Pasig for the food, but keep your eyes open.

> Rent in Pasig City varies significantly by district. Expect to pay higher rates for condos in Ortigas, while residential apartments in quieter barangays offer much more economical long-term housing solutions.
