the air here smells like old radios and regret. i walk through streets where people whisper secrets they’ll not share, their eyes darting like caged birds. every corner holds a tangled web of past and present. it’s a place where time folds in on itself, forcing you to confront what’s left. the place feels alive but brittle, like glass under sunlight. stumbling upon a diner with nonstop coffee cups sits just ahead, a loud contrast that anchors the chaos. sometimes i get lost here, but i keep going because the only language that works here is broken. sometimes i find things i’ve thought are gone but still feel present, like a ghost using a key i don’t remember holding. the city whispers back with a sarcasm so sharp it hurts, yet it’s engaging. sometimes i’m tired, other times euphoric, but either way, it pulls me deeper. the rhythm here is insistent, a pulse that echoes through alleyways i don’t know exist. it’s not peaceful, but it’s something to note. the best part? it never lets you escape its grip, just shifts you in ways that feel heavy but necessary. people here talk less, more quietly, which is strange, but it makes sense. sometimes i wonder why i stay, others say it’s for the paycheck, but i can’t say it anymore. small things here define everything else, like the way people cross streets without waiting for permission. i don’t care how deep the well is beneath us; just keep swimming, one step at a time. there’s a strength in this place, invisible but present, like a shadow you can’t squash entirely, even if you try. it’s hard, but i’m learning to tolerate it. the place moves when i do, though, and that’s how i find moments i didn’t expect to notice.
