Nashville’s a Blur: Rain, Rhythms, and Really Bad Coffee

okay, so, i’m pretty sure i’m running on fumes and the sheer force of will. landed in nashville yesterday, and honestly? it’s… a lot. like, a lot of everything. the humidity is clinging to me like a second skin - 56% and rising, according to my phone. feels like 7.58, which is basically a sauna wrapped in a slightly damp hug. the pressure’s at 1023, which is… unsettling. i just checked and it's...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing.

my flight was delayed, naturally. three hours. three. hours. spent staring at a guy who was aggressively knitting a miniature banjo. seriously. and then, the rental car - a beat-up silver Corolla named ‘Betsy’ - smelled faintly of mothballs and regret. i’m already questioning all my life choices.

but, you know, nashville. it’s got a pulse. a frantic, honky-tonk pulse. i’m staying in a tiny Airbnb in East Nashville - it’s basically a glorified closet, but it’s cheap and close to everything. the neighbors are… interesting. if you get bored, chattanooga and lexington are just a short drive away. someone told me that the best BBQ is at Peg Leg Porker - I heard that from a guy who looked like he hadn’t slept in a week and was wearing a cowboy hat indoors. check it out: Peg Leg Porker.

spent the afternoon wandering around 12 south. it’s ridiculously touristy, but the murals are actually pretty cool. i managed to snag a shot of a giant cowboy riding a unicorn - it’s going straight to my insta.

coffee situation? don’t even get me started. i tried a place called Frothy Monkey - it was… aggressively caffeinated. tasted like burnt tires and disappointment. seriously, avoid. i’m sticking to gas station coffee for the rest of the trip. pro-tip: bring your own filter.

found a little blues club called The Bluebird Cafe - it’s tiny and legendary. i didn’t get in, obviously, but i heard some amazing music spilling out onto the street. i’m going to try again tomorrow. maybe i’ll charm my way in with a sob story. it’s worth a shot.

gear list (because someone has to organize this chaos):
Camera (obviously)
Notebook (for capturing the madness)
Portable charger (because my phone is always dying)
Rain jacket (it’s always raining somewhere)
A healthy dose of cynicism
A very large bottle of ibuprofen

seriously, the weather is a mess. it’s like 9.88 degrees outside, feels like 7.58, temp min 8.81, temp max 10.81. it’s… unsettling. i’m considering investing in a heated blanket.

found this really cool street art near Printer’s Alley - it’s a giant, snarling wolf.

Someone told me that the best way to experience Nashville is to just wander and get lost. I think they were right. Or maybe they were just drunk.

seriously, the pressure is 1023 and the humidity is 56. it’s a lot. i’m starting to think i need a vacation from my vacation.

“Don’t trust anyone who says they have all the answers,” a grizzled bartender told me. “Especially if they’re wearing a cowboy hat.”

okay, i’m officially exhausted. heading to bed. wish me luck. and maybe send coffee.
