Marawi Mornings and Midnight Markets
waking up in marawi feels like stepping into a dream you can’t quite remember. the air is thick, almost syrupy, and the humidity clings to your skin like a second layer of clothes. i just checked and it's 24.84°c there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the streets are quiet in the early hours, broken only by the distant call to prayer and the occasional rooster crowing like it's got something to prove. someone told me that the best coffee in town is at a tiny stall near the market, but you have to ask for “the secret blend” or they’ll just hand you instant. i haven’t tried it yet, but i’m planning to tomorrow. if you get bored, iligan and cotabato are just a short drive away, though i heard iligan’s waterfalls are more impressive than anything here. i’m not sure i believe that, but it’s worth checking out.
