Lund: Where My Camera Found Chaos in the Fog

okay so i land in this swedish town called lund with my camera bag feeling like a sack of bricks and a brain full of static. first thing i notice? the air. it’s thick enough to chew, like someone mistook fog for actual weather. i just checked and it’s holding steady at 10 degrees with a humidity that feels like damp paper towels. if you’re into breathing things that smell like wet concrete, you’ll love it.

a body of water surrounded by trees and buildings

this town? it’s got this vibe where history and modernity are wrestling in a mud pit. cobblestones look like they’ve been there since the vikans, and then BAM-a bike zips by with a dude wearing neon socks. i’m sitting by this *canal trying to frame it right when a student tells me, “if you get antsy, malmö’s just a tram ride away. copenhagen? that’s a whole other country of pastries.” suddenly my wanderlust has a map.

“listen, skip the ‘best of lund’ tours. my cousin’s boyfriend’s uncle said the real magic’s in the abandoned library basement. bring flashlights. and maybe a weapon.”

i ended up at this
kaffehus near the cathedral. barista’s got piercings and a scowl that could curdle milk. someone told me their coffee’s either a religious experience or a scam-no in-between. i tried it. tasted like existential dread with a hint of cardamom. worth it? maybe.

“that ‘authentic’ swedish meatball joint? locals call it ‘tourist truffle.’ real eats? head to the student union. they’ve got this dill-cured salmon sandwich that’ll make you weep. tears of joy. probably.”

spent three days chasing light through
botanical gardens* and getting lost in alleyways where graffiti wars are fought with stencils. pressure’s 1021 hpa-felt like the air was holding secrets. heard whispers of a ghost in the oldest university building, but mostly just smelled dust and old books.

for real photography spots? tripadvisor’s lund gallery guide saved my butt when my lens fogged up. and this one hole-in-the-wall record shop? yelp says their latte art’s cursed-but in a good way.

so yeah. lund’s a puzzle box of fog and fire. i left with 200 blurry photos and a cold that clings like a jealous ex. worth it? absolutely. but next time? i’m bringing more socks.
