Last Ticket Ride in Barcelona

The sun hung low over Montjuïc, casting long shadows over the weathered stone arches. My stomach growled louder than the murmur of distant markets. I remember the itch from yesterday’s sketch session-the one I pretended to lose focus in-now it burns again. Gesturing wildly at my inadequacies, I muttered something about ‘urban decay’ before retreating toward the nearest beach. These days, fabricating stories seems like composing bath salts. Even the pigeons seemed to dislike my presence, scurrying to the hum of the metro. Let’s just admit whatever I did chipped at Barcelona. The sea stirs near the cliffs, but I don’t bother looking. The wind carries echoes of ‘where were we before?’ I’ll never change, even if that means missing out. Sometimes I wish I’d mapped every conceivable route, but the city’s deniers always say ‘too much’. So here I am, adrift, counting cracks in the plane’s hull. Oh, and did you notice how wet my nails felt after that designer’s shoe? Sadly so.
