lake oswego in october is just wet enough to ruin your camera and your patience
i didn't plan to end up here. i was on my way to portland for a shoot and my gps said "recalculating" for the third time so i pulled over at a gas station off i-5 and the woman behind the counter said "lake oswego's nice if you don't mind the rain." she was right. it was raining. 15.6°C and feeling like 14.97°C which is weather speak for "it's that kind of grey that makes your bones hum."
so here i am. lake oswagen friday it was barely fifteen degrees and the cloud cover made everything look like a 4k filter nobody asked for. humidity at 67%, pressure dropping slightly - the kind of afternoon where you stop caring about your shot list and just walk.

that's when i stopped being annoyed. the place has this way of making you wait and then surprising you. not flashy. not loud. just... there.

- pressure was 1011 hPa and dropping - means weather could shift fast. watch the sky more than your phone.
- bus service exists but it's sparse. you'll need a car or a very patient attitude.
- the lake trails are free. the parking near them is not free. read the signs.
if you're a photographer this town is mid on purpose. it doesn't try to be pretty. it just is, and the camera rewards patience more than any filter will. i've got thirty usable shots from six hours of walking. for me that's a good ratio. your mileage will vary.
i'm going back in november. someone at the bakery said the fall colors near the east side trail are "unreasonably good" for a town this quiet. i believe them. the temperature will be lower but i'll have better shoes. that's growth.
