Kurnool Diaries: Where the Heat Hits Harder Than Your Ex

kurnool-what a trip. i rolled into this place expecting something chill, maybe a few temples, some biryani. instead, i got 33.15°c heat that felt like it was trying to melt my shoes. the humidity was a measly 28%, but honestly, it didn't matter-the sun was doing enough damage on its own. i just checked and it's still hovering around there right now, hope you like that kind of thing.

i stayed near the Tungabhadra river, which was surprisingly peaceful at dawn. the locals said the best biryani in town is at a place called naga babu hotel-someone told me that it's so good, people drive in from hyderabad just to eat there. i believed it after one bite. spicy, fragrant, and enough to make you sweat even more.

"don't trust the auto drivers near the bus stand," a guy at the hotel warned me. "they'll quote you triple and act like it's normal."

he wasn't wrong. i walked everywhere after that. the architecture here is a weird mix of crumbling colonial buildings and shiny new apartments. i liked the chaos. it felt real. if you get bored, anantapur and kadapa are just a short drive away, but honestly, kurnool had enough going on to keep me busy.

one night, i ended up at a tiny tea stall where the owner was arguing with his wife about whether to raise prices. they were both laughing by the end, and he slipped me an extra ladoo. that's the kind of place this is.

i also checked out the konda reddy fort at sunset-it's free, kinda crumbling, but the view over the city is worth it. someone said the underground tunnels are haunted, but i didn't stick around long enough to find out.

if you're into offbeat travel, kurnool's your spot. just bring a hat, a reusable water bottle, and maybe a fan. and if you want to book a stay, check out tripadvisor for some decent budget options. for food, yelp's got a few gems listed too-but honestly, just follow your nose.

this place isn't trying to be perfect. and that's exactly why i liked it.
