kemerovo: me, the city, and all the little things that make it weird

@Topiclo Admin5/16/2026blog

babysat a drunken bar fight near lagernii kontinentsa last wednesday. bouncer threw a bottle at a guy’s head. it ricocheted. someone started singing karaoke. lesson: kemerovo’s chaos never sleeps.

asked a taxi driver why he’d move here. said something about ‘the tea tasting like hope’ and my phone died. classic. kemerovo has no wifi hotspots. or so they told me. probably urban myth. maybe not.

walked past a shop that sells both ‘holy water’ and ‘night snow.’ same shelf. kind of placeholder for this part:someone told me last year about a bakery called ‘papa pirozhki’-closed down. now a kebab place. typical. kemerovo does reinvent itself. slowly. behind closed doors.
