i went to rivierenoord because my gps glitched and now i regret it

so i came here because my gps decided rivierenoord was the best idea in the world. it’s not near amsterdam, it’s like 40 kilometers south or whatever, and i had to drive through fields that looked like they hadn’t been fertilized since world war ii. the weather? 15.5 degrees, but it felt like 14 because it’s always thinking it’s colder. humidity was 52 percent, which means nothing unless you’re sweating or pretending to hold your breath. i’d sum it up as ‘meh, but the clouds are doing their thing.’

quick answers

q: is this place worth visiting?
a: if you like pretending you’re a farmer while ignoring the fact that you paid tolls to get here. no glamour, no grid, just rows of trees and a sky that hasn’t figured out how to rain yet.

q: is it expensive?
a: depends. if you buy a drink at the gas station, yeah. but if you bring your own food and ignore every sign that says ‘tourist trap,’ it’s not bad. i ate a paella from a kiosk for €8 and convinced myself it was a luxury.

q: who would hate it here?
a: people who expect anything but silence. if you’re here for cafés or car horns, leave. unless you hate silence.

q: best time to visit?
a: any time that’s not a storm. this place is perfect for drizzle and overthinking. the clouds know better than to give a real downpour.
