google: The Unraveled Tech Giant That’s Still Wildly Overrated
google is this big, complicated thing that I swear I hate but also can’t live without. I remember the day I first realized how much it controlled my life. It wasn’t a single moment, but a series of tiny decisions-like when I started using Google Maps without asking, or when I forgot to turn off location history. It’s wild how much power a company can have when you don’t even realize it’s there.
Then there’s the ads. I swear I click on a ‘free’ offer and suddenly I’m stuck in a cycle of emails, pop-ups, and a 30-minute video about why I shouldn’t trust free things. It’s not evil, it’s just… efficient. Or is it?
Another thing? The search results. I once searched for ‘how to fix a leaky faucet’ and got 10 pages of articles that didn’t even mention faucets. It’s like Google is trying to sell me a plumbing degree. Or maybe it’s just optimizing for clicks. I don’t know.
And the voice assistant. I love being able to ask it questions, but half the time it’s like, ‘Did you mean something else?’ It’s frustrating. Or maybe it’s smart. Either way, it feels like it’s playing games with me.
But here’s the thing: I still use it. Because alternatives either don’t work as well or require too much effort. It’s a paradox. A giant, mostly invisible force shaping my daily life.
