so google its everywhere and sometimes i wonder if we are living in a simulation because how else do you explain that our lives revolve around a single company that started as a search engine in a dorm room. the algorithm knows your secrets better than your best friend and yet here we are daily sacrificing our attention spans to its infinite scroll of answers. it is simultaneously fascinating and terrifying and honestly a little bit convenient when you need to remember that one movie title from 2003.

anyway lets talk about it because avoiding google in 2024 is basically impossible unless you move to a cave or something.

so heres the thing about google its like that one friend who always knows what you want before you do but also might sell that information to strangers. every morning i wake up and the first thing i do is ask it questions like a paranoid oracle. what should i wear today? where can i get the best coffee near me? is this rash normal? the answers come swift and mostly accurate even when i am half asleep.

overheard at a coffee shop yesterday someone say 'i dont use google i use duckduckgo' and i wanted to ask are you living in 2024 or 1995? because lets be real most people have never heard of duckduckgo let alone use it regularly. the convenience factor is too strong.

personally i have mixed feelings. on one hand its incredibly useful. navigation through traffic, finding recipes, discovering new music all easier with google. on the other hand sometimes i feel like im being manipulated by an algorithm that knows my habits better than i know them myself.

theres also the whole artificial intelligence thing now. google has been integrating ai into search results and other products. this raises new questions about reliability and bias. when ai generates answers instead of just linking to sources how do you know what is real?
