digital nomad life in banggai, 26.73°c and a few thoughts

@Amelie Rose3/17/2026blog

so here’s the thing... i arrived at banggai with a laptop, a half-empty water bottle, and a hope that this overhyped ‘digital nomad haven’ wasn’t just some overinflated yelp nightmare. turns out it wasn’t. unless you count the fact that i’ve already blown through three sim cards trying to get decent wifi. i swear one of them promised ‘4g’ but was just the same 2g shit I’ve endured in 12 other places. oh, and the weather? i just checked and it’s 26.73°c all day, no variation, just like a bad lover holding you fast in one bad position. humid? sure. but not in a way that makes you feel alive, more like you’re trapped in a sauna someone forgot to ventilate.

"i heard that the beach here is actually owned by a bunch of ex-military guys who ‘protect’ it with random checkpoints," someone told me during a drunken conversation at that sketchy atm on main street. i didn’t ask details, but now every time I walk past that dollar-store kiosk selling coconut water, I half-expect someone to holler ‘security!’ and chase me with a broom. maybe I’ll do that tomorrow.
