Berlin Brain Dump: 737022 & 1792410633 - A Weird Few Days

okay, so berlin. where do i even begin? i landed a few days ago, and honestly, it's like someone hit the 'chaos' button on reality. i’m still processing the whole thing. the numbers…737022 and 1792410633… they popped into my head seemingly at random during the flight. no clue what they mean, but now i’m convinced they’re some kind of cryptic message from the universe (or maybe just turbulence inducing numbers).

The weather is…well, it’s Berlin. i just checked and it’s… surprisingly mild, there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the air has this weird metallic tang to it - probably just the city, but it’s definitely different from home. i’m constantly oscillating between feeling like i’m in a black and white film and a hyper-saturated art installation.

my little apartment (found on Airbnb - seriously, check out their reviews before booking!) is in Kreuzberg. the neighbors are…a vibrant mix, to say the least. think overflowing plant boxes, the constant thrum of indie music leaking from open windows, and the aroma of a million different spices hanging in the air. they seem to exist on a different wavelength than me, but in a good way. it’s all very…unpretentious.

i’ve been wandering a lot. yesterday i spent hours just getting lost in the Hackesche Höfe, those interconnected courtyards. seriously, it’s a maze. i heard that if you get bored, Copenhagen is just a short drive away. i’m thinking about trying to do a road trip sometime.

food-wise? don’t even get me started. i stumbled upon this tiny döner kebab place down a side street (Yelp says it's legendary - [link to Yelp page]). seriously, the best thing i’ve ever tasted. and the currywurst…oh god, the currywurst. i’m pretty sure i’m going to gain five pounds just from that stuff. people keep suggesting i try a proper Berliner, but i’m intimidated. it looks…challenging.

“Someone told me that the best street art is hidden down the quietest alleys. You gotta really look for it.”

spent a morning exploring the East Side Gallery, which is both incredibly poignant and surprisingly cool. all those murals… it really hits you. and it’s a massive space, perfect for getting spectacularly lost.

Gear-ish stuff (because i'm a sucker for this):
Comfortable walking shoes (duh)
A reusable water bottle (Berlin tap water is great!)
A good map (or a fully charged phone with offline maps downloaded)
A camera (Obviously!)

“Don't trust anyone who doesn’t know the difference between a Berliner and a Pfannkuchen. It’s a character flaw.”

i’ve heard that the nightlife is insane here. i haven’t really dove into it yet (still recovering from jet lag), but i’m definitely planning on checking out some clubs later in the week. apparently, the techno scene is… intense. i'm a little intimidated, to be honest.

someone mentioned that the best hidden gems are found on local online forums ([link to a Berlin local forum]). i might try to check those out. and, of course, i’ll be documenting everything on my instagram ([link to instagram]). any tips for berlin? hit me up in the comments! i’m open to suggestions - especially regarding the Berliner situation. seriously, help me out here. this city is a whirlwind, a beautiful, chaotic, and slightly overwhelming whirlwind.

hope to share more soon!
