Bay City's Frozen Finger: A Photographer's Frostbitten Chronicles

yeah so i just checked the weather and it’s… that kind of cold where your phone battery dies faster than you can say ‘arctic vortex’. real talk: it’s -4.85°C out there but feels like -7.36°C because humidity’s doing that thing where it hugs you like an overbearing relative. packed everything twice-wool socks, hand warmers, the whole nine yards.

“that bridge? nah, don’t go there at dawn. saw something in the mist last winter… made my shutter freeze mid-click.”

A dessert glass with fruit and cream is shown.

bay city’s got this weird vibe where the river looks like *industrial chic but the downtown feels like a forgotten film set. got distracted by the old brick warehouse near the harbor-those rust stains? pure art. local’s tip: if your fingers go numb, duck into [Yelp link] for coffee that costs more than my dignity but tastes like salvation.

“heard the soup kitchen downtown? chef’s got Michelin-star training and zero tolerance for broth haters. true story.”

pressure’s 1025 hpa and humidity’s 95%-basically breathing soup. someone told me the
trout bridge at midnight is where ghost fishermen hang out, but honestly? my lens fogged up so bad i couldn’t tell if it was spirits or just condensation. ran into this sketchy character at [TripAdvisor link] who swore the old paper mill vents smell like cinnamon on Tuesdays. weird flex but okay.

if you’re bored out of your skull, saginaw’s a short drive away-better bars, worse parking. caught this old dude feeding ducks near [local board] and he looked like he’d been doing it since Eisenhower was president. shot 400 frames today and maybe 20 weren’t blurry. worth it for the
frozen river textures* though. tomorrow? braving the -5°C min for that abandoned theater. pray for my shutter finger.
