why i spent 3 days working from a ratchaburi coworking space shaped like a rice paddy

it’s 21.11 degrees here, feels like 21.31 with humidity clinging to my skin like a second layer. i checked the pressure at 1011 and grnd_level at 1007 and still no idea why the clouds keep ganging up like this. maybe they’re plotting something. found a coworking spot called workspace @ "/maps.google.com/q=25.9172,89.4459/" and it’s basically a giant rice paddy with Wi-Fi. concrete floors, coconut fiber seats, and a mural of a pig wearing sunglasses. questionable life choices, but the coffee’s strong and the wifi vector hides the fact that my laptop fan sounds like a jet engine.

neighbors? if you get bored, makokpa’s night markets are a 20-minute drive away. someone told me that the local moonshine is stronger than the coffee here. i’m not saying it’s true, but i’m thinking about finding out. heard from a guy at the bus station that the old train tracks here are haunted. not sure if that’s a review or just someone trying to sound local. the weather forecast said high of 21.11 and low of 21.11. accurate. maybe they’re lazy.

first few hours were all about setting up my vanlife suitcase into a makeshift desk. turned on the gram and posted that photo of the cat staring at the camera on flickr because someone there said the lens dirtiness adds ‘authenticity.’ wasn’t lying. downloaded the tripadvisor app and left a 3-star for the hostel next door because the aircon broke mid-sleep and i woke up in a sweat that refused to quit.

by day two, the heat got to me. tried a yoga session at sunset but the sunset was just a smudge of orange smoke. switched to black coffee and stared at a lo-fi girl playlist for 4 hours. my dog showed up after 2am-nicknamed him shadow because he’s basically part of the furniture now.

last day, ventured to a yelp-listed street food stall where i burned my tongue on coconut milk noodles so thick they could’ve double as armor. barista next door said the best cinnamon rolls are at a bakery called ‘broken scripts’ but i’m still nursing that mouth situation.

so that’s 3 days in a place where the Wi-Fi is faster than my attention span. if you’re coming, check out the map, binge the local forums, and never trust a reviewer who says ‘the vibe is pristine.’ pristine? nah. this place is chaos with a side of coconut water. maybe return the favor and leave a ‘drunk advice’ review about the pig mural. you know you want to.
