Takamatsu on a Mild Tuesday: Barista Coffee and Shrine Vibes
i just checked the Japand weather app and it’s a fine 16.68°C right now, hope you like that kind of thing. smells like soy sauce and espresso beans from the street vendor down the block. neighbor told me their cat’s been stealing my matcha latte checks-someone’s got moves.
walked past 🔥✨✨ Satosaka Shrine at sunrise. the torii gates looked like shattered glass from a comedy sketch. *Satosaka opened at 7 AM, so I ate dango for breakfast and stared at the sky until someone yelled “go in” at me. met a guy drinking lukewarm coffee from a paper bag. said the shrine tears down “boring” statues every Tuesday. probably a lie, but he’s in a hoodie with a cat patch-I trust that vibe.
Yelp says this coffee line’s grossly overrated, but I’m here for it. the barista claims snow doesn’t chill here. “Fake snow” he yelled. “Real snow’s for losers” another customer grunted. heard a rumor about a rogue vending machine selling “ghost mochi” near the train station. went to investigate. machine was empty. maybe the ghost was just stuck in the delivery truck.
took the train to Mishima - heard it’s 15 minutes faster than the official app says. saw a mural of a dancing pony. not sure if it’s a pro or a meme. Don’t forget to charge your power bank*, a woman in a fanny pack warned me. neighbors here treat bus stops like performance art. the cult of convenience is strong in Takamatsu.

p.s. 22% humidity means my shoes stay dry. for now. older man at the park said the seaweed smells like regret. might’ve been the soup dumplings.
