shtip when the weather steals your coffee and ruins your plans

so you want to know if shtip is worth the hype? well let me tell you about the time i arrived here and the app said 2 degrees but it was actually 2 degrees of existential doom. i just checked and it's like that Arctic thing you see in movies if they ever got it right. the clouds just merge with the sky and suddenly your jacket becomes a trap. i heard that the locals swear by soup here but i’m pretty sure the only thing boiling is my hope.

weird thing about neighborhoods? they all seem to revolve around this one spot where someone tried to start a vintage record shop but it’s now a pawn shop. i saw a guy trying to pawn a novelty lamp that lights up like a disco ball. if you get bored, knesey is just a short drive away. it’s like a whole different universe where the stars still shine.

someone told me that the bus schedule changes every monday. another person said the railway station is haunted by a guy in a faded overcoat who yells about train delays. i don’t know which is worse. i heard that the guesthouse down the street won’t rent rooms if you ask after midnight. classic sindrome.

so what’s the deal with reviews? let me clarify. i don’t mean fake ones. i mean that awkward half-truth you overhear at a bar. like, a stranger told me the coffee here is so good it’ll cure your soul. then another person said the coffee shop owner hates english. i think they were both wrong. mine tasted like regret but it was cheap. i linked into the local weather page here just in case you’re brave enough. some people swear by the library annex for wifi. it’s where i found a dusty map of vanished villages. don’t do that.

here’s a map of where i almost got lost:

that spot near the river? don’t go there. i did. it’s just a dead end and a lot of pigeons.

images? let’s add some chaos.

person in a raincoat staring at a puddle
a group of people arguing under a bridge
a broken clock charging in direct sunlight

i’m not a fan of advice but here’s some random tips. if you’re into ancient ruins, check out the ones near the church. they’re real. no photoshop. also, maybe don’t touch the lady in the red scarf. she might throw a sock at you. i’m 80% sure she did.

links? yeah. tripadvisor says the views are ā€˜divine’ but i think they meant ā€˜desolate.’ yelp has a review about a restaurant that serves soup in teacups. sounds sanitary. local boards mention a festival where everyone dances to a goat’s bleat. is that real? who knows. i’m adding this to my personal blog rn here because why not.
