Lusaka: A Whirlwind of Information and Unexpected Weather

okay, so i'm still processing all this data. it feels like someone just dumped a bunch of facts into my brain and said, "go! write something!" here we go.

apparently, lusaka is Zambia's capital. big city, huh? located in the south-central part, on the Central African Plateau. coordinates? 15°25′S 28°17′E. elevation? 1,280 metres. i’m trying to picture it, but it’s just numbers swirling around in my head.

geology...wow. schist in the north, limestone in the south. it’s like the city is built on layers of different things. and groundwater? apparently, it’s a thing thanks to the limestone, but no major rivers. which is…interesting. apparently the drainage is all complicated, flowing into the Chongwe and Kafue rivers, eventually feeding the Zambezi. i think i need a diagram.

The climate is dry mostly, with a four-month rainy season. average temperatures range from a chilly 9.6°C in July to a warmer 28.9°C in September. it’s warm year-round, which sounds nice, but i'm imagining some serious humidity during the wet season. someone told me that the mornings can be quite misty.

it’s also one of the faster-developing cities in southern Africa. apparently, the limestone geology is helping with groundwater, which is cool. though, it also means water quality management is something they have to think about. those non-clay soils are reducing filtration, which…isn’t ideal.

if you get bored, Livingstone and Kitwe are just a short drive away. Livingstone is Zambia’s tourism capital, and Kitwe is their second-largest city on the Copperbelt. it’s good to have options, i guess.

and the weather... i just checked and it’s...there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. it’s like, 16.96°C, feels like 17.11°C. humidity is high at 92%. not exactly beach weather, but not freezing either.

it’s a warm and temperate climate, classified as Cwa. which is…neat, i suppose. basically, warm and temperate. i feel like i’m missing something, but honestly, i’m just exhausted from digesting all this information. someone told me that the groundwater conditions are really supporting the city’s development. it's a whole thing.
