gdansk nights: a messy digital nomad log
i just stepped off the train and the air felt like a slap of frost, i just checked and it's biting cold there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the streets are wet, the neon signs flicker, and iām hunting for a spot to set up my laptop before the sunrise.
someone told me that the best croissants are at that bakery near the river, but i heard that the line never ends on weekends. if you get bored, krakow or wroclaw are just a short drive away, and the train hop is cheap as chips.
*cafĆ© hopping has become my ritual: i pop into hostel lobbies, claim a power outlet, and watch the world scroll by on the metro while sipping cheap espresso. the vibe is gritty, the wifi is spotty, but the people are weirdly friendly. iām obsessed with the sunrise over the old town, itās like the city wakes up just for me.
iāve scribbled a few proātips (yeah, iām using bullet points because iām lazy):
- grab a ticket for the night bus, itās cheaper than a taxi
- download the local board app, it shows lastāminute gigs
- avoid the main square after dark, the police love to patrol
some reviews float around like gossip: "the rooftop bar is overpriced but the view is worth it." i tried it anyway, and the cocktail was too sweet for my taste, but the city lights were magnificent*.
iāve linked a few spots you might want to check:
