fort lauderdale: where the humidity hugs your ankles

just rolled into this florida hotspot for a dance gig and wow, this city breathes differently. i just checked and it's currently wrapped in 87% humidity that feels like walking through a *condensation museum, so pack fabrics that breathe or you'll sweat like you're in a sauna marathon. if you get bored, west palm beach and miami are basically commuter towns from here - perfect for escaping when the coconut palms start feeling familiar.

the
waterfront here is deceptive - looks peaceful but that pressure reading (1018 hpa) means the air’s thick enough to slice with a tap shoe. found this killer spot near the stranahan house where they serve cold brew so strong it’ll make your pirouettes spin faster. someone told me the las olas boulevard has art that’ll make you cry, but then i heard the parking is designed by satan’s cousin. so maybe take the water taxi instead?

"i heard that if you stand on the
seawall at sunset, the ghosts of rum runners do a conga line in the waves"

"someone warned me the
gumbo limbo nature center has mosquitoes that’ll carry you away if you forget bug spray"

a red train traveling down tracks next to a lush green hillside

"drunk advice: skip the
commercial blvd taco trucks unless you wanna spend the night bonding with toilets"

for real though, check out the fort lauderdale beach at dawn - the
ocean glows like radioactive jellyfish. but if shopping’s your thing, las olas boulevard will empty your wallet faster than a pickpocket on roller skates. and if you wanna see where rich people’s yachts go to retire, the port everglades tour is basically a floating billionaires’ parade.

that’s the vibe - sticky, surreal, and
salt-kissed*. my feet are screaming but this city’s got me hooked. peace out, sweaty travelers.
