Brisbane Brain Dump: Numbers, Humidity, and a Whole Lotta Feels

@Adam Wright3/12/2026blog

okay, so. brisbane. wow. i’m still trying to process everything. i just checked and it's...a warm, sticky hug right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the numbers rattled around in my head all the way from the airport: 3446445 and 1076541844. what even are those? my phone’s got a weird obsession with them. maybe they’re some sort of code? a secret message from the universe? probably not, haha. but they definitely set the tone for this whole trip, a little jumbled, a little mysterious.

The weather report said 27.48°C, feels like 29.18°C. humidity is a whopping 65%. it’s basically a sauna out here. good thing i packed my linen pants (which, let’s be real, look amazing even when you’re sweating). the pressure is normal, 1013, and the ground level vs sea level is 954. i'm not sure what to make of it, honestly.

this city... it's got a pulse, but it’s a slow, relaxed pulse. not frantic like sydney or melbourne. i’m staying in a little apartment near South Bank. it’s cute, but the neighbors? a whole other story. i heard their morning routine involves interpretive dance and avocado toast. seriously. if you get bored, Gold Coast is just a short drive away.

spent yesterday wandering around New Farm Markets. the smells! the sights! i scored the cutest vintage silk scarf - already planning my outfits. the vendors are all super chill, and the food…oh, the food. i’m a total sucker for Vietnamese spring rolls. i even tried a weird fruit called a rambutan. tasted like a lychee crossed with a slightly sour grape. weird but good. i’m trying to branch out from my usual coffee order - lattes are getting boring, y’know?

I heard that the Queensland Art Gallery is amazing, but also incredibly crowded on weekends - something a local warned me about. I'm thinking of checking out some street art in the Fortitude Valley. I've seen some photos online that look wild. And another rumor I got is that the pizza at that little place on Boundary Street is life-changing. *Don't forget your sunscreen, seriously.

Honestly, the best part about Brisbane so far has just been the people. everyone’s so friendly and laid-back. I even bumped into another traveler at a cafe who was heading to the Whitsunday Islands. Apparently those islands are unreal. I'm adding that to my list.

Also, someone told me that the Story Bridge is a great place to watch the sunset, but be prepared for a lot of other people also having the same idea. Drunk advice, maybe? but hey, worth a shot.

I’m finding myself really enjoying just
being* here. no pressure, no rush. just soaking it all in. i’m definitely going to need another coffee to fuel this rambling. thinking of checking out this guide on TripAdvisor for more ideas. and i want to check out Yelp for restaurant reviews. maybe even some of the local boards like Gumtree{#link}

Anyway. gotta go. off to find some more rambutan.”
