Bogotá Brain Dump: 3797895 & 1862645590 – A Weathered Wanderer's Notes

okay, so bogotá. where do i even begin? i landed yesterday, and honestly, it felt like stepping into a slightly hazy dream. the air… it's there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. a bit humid, definitely. my phone says the temp is hovering around 24.82 Celsius, feeling like 25, with a pressure of 1012 and humidity at a sticky 63%. not bad, not great. the ground level is 991 meters, which is… a lot of stairs, let me tell you.

i came here chasing a feeling, something i can’t quite articulate. a quiet hum, maybe? i'm a freelance photographer, so i'm always searching for that 'it' moment, you know? the light, the faces, the stories etched into the buildings. i’m hoping this city has plenty.

the neighbors are… well, they’re present. a constant buzz of life. lots of families, street vendors, and people just being. if you get bored, Medellín is just a short drive away. i heard that the best empanadas are found down a side street near *La Candelaria*, but someone else swore they were overrated. drunk advice, probably. anyway.

i’ve been wandering around La Candelaria, the historic center. it's a chaotic maze of cobblestone streets and brightly colored buildings. the architecture is stunning, a blend of colonial and modern styles. i’m trying to soak it all in, but it's hard to focus when there’s a street performer playing the flute three feet away and a flock of pigeons trying to steal my sandwich.

i think my biggest challenge so far has been navigating the bus system. seriously, it’s an adventure in itself. someone told me that the TransMilenio is a nightmare during rush hour. another local warned me to be extra careful with my belongings - petty theft is apparently a thing. definitely keeping an eye on my stuff. i'm staying in a little guesthouse - seriously charming, but the Wi-Fi is… optimistic.

i'm aiming to capture the everyday moments - the way the light falls on the buildings, the expressions on people’s faces, the details that tell a story. i'm thinking of doing a series on the street art - it’s everywhere, incredibly vibrant and thought-provoking. i recently stumbled upon a hidden courtyard filled with murals, it was unreal. you can check out some other street art in Bogotá on Colombia Street Art.

the food is incredible too. i’ve been eating arepas for breakfast and bandeja paisa for dinner - i’m pretty sure i’m going to need a bigger pants size by the end of this trip. i heard that the coffee here is some of the best in the world. i’m definitely planning on visiting a local cafe tomorrow. there are some great options listed on Yelp Bogotá.

seriously though, bogotá is a sensory overload. it’s loud, it’s crowded, it’s chaotic, but it’s also incredibly beautiful and full of life. i’m just trying to absorb it all. i'm also checking out some photography workshops, you can find some details on Workshop Hero. it's all a bit of a blur, but in the best possible way. i’m embracing the mess, and hoping to come away with something real.
