Saltillo's Late October Grind: When Air Has Teeth

pulled into saltillo at 3am, engine coughing like a dying cat. found this crumbling hotel near *mercado juarez where the owner mumbled prices while eyeing my backpack. next morning? that air bites like a wet cat. i just checked and it's...holding at 17.29°C, feels like 16.56, so bring layers unless you enjoy looking like a shivering goose.

spent the day lugging camera gear through alleys where laundry hung like abstract art. locals gave me side-eye until i offered coffee turns out i should've brought pesos, not smiles.
that barista named ana? she slates espresso like a surgeon. overheard two expats arguing over whether el cerro del pilar was worth the hike - one called it "vomit-inducing," the other "spiritually necessary." take your pick.

someone told me the
coahuila museum has secret underground tunnels - probably not true, but i spent two hours peering at drainage grates anyway. got yelled at in spanish by a security guard who clearly thought i was casing joint. if you get bored, monterrey's industrial skyline is a bus ride away, but honestly? why escape the crumbling beauty here?

"that street artist? paints with his feet now," said a vendor selling dried chili strings. "ate too much pastor. sad."

pressure's been weird - 1019 at sea level but drops to 972 on the ground like the city's holding its breath. humidity at 57 makes old brick walls weep. found
taco king where carnitas melt in your mouth. drunk guy at next table swore the owner was ex-cartel. either way, tacos fire.

trying to edit photos but the wifi cuts every 20 minutes. met this german nomad named kai who says he's been chasing sun for 8 years. showed him my hostel receipt - $4/night. he nearly choked on his cheap beer. shared tips: hostel el patio smells like feet, but cafe del sol has the strongest cortado in town. avoid
mercado hidalgo* on sundays unless you enjoy human traffic jams.

leaving tomorrow. this place didn't charm me - it challenged me. and i guess that's worth the gray skies and pressure headaches. now if you'll excuse me, ana just refilled my espresso. again.
