saginaw nights: beer, ghosts, and a very confused drum kit

it's 2am and i'm sitting on a saginaw curb wondering how the hell i ended up here. the gig was supposed to be in detroit but the van broke down and the drummer's ride is still in grand rapids. so here i am, freelance photographer by day, accidental saginaw explorer by night. the air smells like rust and old beer. someone told me that saginaw used to be the lumber capital of the world, but now it's just...quiet. too quiet. like the kind of quiet where you start hearing your own heartbeat and wonder if it's a ghost. speaking of ghosts, i heard a rumor that the castaway bar-yes, that's the actual name-is haunted by a 1970s bartender who still complains about the jukebox. i haven't been there yet, but i plan to. if you get bored, flint and bay city are just a short drive away, though i've been warned they're equally weird in their own ways. i just checked and it's -0.59°c there right now, hope you like that kind of thing. the humidity is 99%, so basically you're breathing through a wet sponge. i'm typing this on my phone, fingers freezing, while a stray cat judges me from a dumpster. tomorrow i'll probably go to the castle museum because someone said it's not actually a castle, which feels like a betrayal. anyway, here's a map in case you're brave enough to join me in this frozen, possibly haunted adventure.
