Kotor: The Place Where My Umbrella Died

so here i am in kotor, montenegro, and let me tell you-it's raining. not just a drizzle, but that kind of sideways rain that makes you question every life choice that led you here. i just checked and it's 12.19°c with 81% humidity right now, hope you like that kind of thing. my umbrella? dead. torn apart by the wind like it insulted someone's mother. classic.

walking through the old town feels like stepping into a medieval washing machine. the cobblestones are slick, the walls are weeping, and every doorway seems to be whispering, "go home, tourist." but i'm stubborn. i've got a coffee to find and maybe a soggy pastry if i'm lucky.

i heard from some guy at the bus station that the bay looks "magical in the rain" but he also smelled like wet dog and cheap brandy, so take that with a grain of salt. still, i'm gonna check it out because what else am i gonna do? sit in my hostel and rewatch the office for the fifth time this week?

if you get bored, dubrovnik and budva are just a short drive away, though honestly, i'd rather stay here and people-watch the drenched tourists trying to take selfies with umbrellas inside out. it's better than reality tv.

found a little café called Łódzka kava that claims to have the best espresso in town. it's run by a woman who looked at me like i was insane for wanting coffee in this weather. she was right. the espresso was perfect. sometimes the universe rewards your bad decisions.

if you're planning to visit, bring a good jacket. and maybe a backup umbrella. and probably a sense of humor. because kotor in the rain is less "charming european getaway" and more "character-building endurance test." but hey, at least my socks are now 40% more waterproof.

for more soggy adventures, check out lonely planet's guide to montenegro or read about the bay of kotor on wikipedia. just don't say i didn't warn you about the rain.

anyway, i'm off to find somewhere dry to sit and pretend i meant to get this wet. maybe the castle walls? or just another café. same difference, right?
