Kamloops: Where Walls Whisper Stories

pulled into kamloops yesterday, brain buzzing from the highway drive. the air? it’s that kind of crisp that feels like a slap of freedom, you know? just peeked at the temp and it's hovering around that chilly 9 degrees, so pack more than a hoodie if you're hitting the streets.

locals here move with purpose but won’t judge your wandering feet. if the city walls start talking too much, salmon arm’s just a quick jaunt south for a different kind of energy.

a bridge over a body of water with a boat on it

first stop: the alley behind *old city hall. found a cracked brick wall screaming for color. but someone told me the real gold’s near the train tracks-apparently the city leaves those tunnels untouched as long as you’re not tagging up historical spots.

yo, if you wanna stay legal, hit the Kamloops Arts Council. they’ve got this monthly open-wall thing. no permits, just show up with your gear. word is the mayor even peeks sometimes.

body of water near mountain during daytime

scored metallic teal spray cans from
Urban Paint Co. near the river. then, overheard at a dive bar:

cops’ve been cracking down near the waterfront park. some kid got slapped with a $200 fine last week for aerosol. maybe stick to the industrial zone?

a landscape with a body of water and trees

riverside park at night’s electric-crews from all over converge there. don’t miss the downtown murals though, they’re legit. for fuel, hit
The Rusty Fork for burgers that’ll haunt your dreams. and Kamloops Tourism Board* lists all the legal walls like it’s a treasure map.

oh and that ymca downtown? dorms for 30 bucks. not fancy, but the walls have more character than some five-star hotels.
