Jakarta Heatwave Hiccups & Hidden Alleyways
i just checked and it's...this flame right now, hope you like that kind of thing. stepping out felt like walking into a sauna, humidity hugging my skin like a cheap blanket. the streets are buzzing with scooters, street food stalls shouting promises of satay and fried bananas. someone told me that the night market on jalan jakasangka has the best iced coffee in the city, but i swear the real secret is the old woman selling krupuk with a wink. i also heard that the rooftop bar near the river gets wild when the monsoon clouds break, so i might swing by if the heat finally eases. if you get bored, the neighboring town is just a short drive away. i dropped a pin on the map for good measure:
then i snapped a few shots, one of a faded mural with a kaleidoscope of colors, another of a street vendor's cart piled high with fresh mangosteens, and a third of the neon sign flickering like a heartbeat.
i linked up with a local on yelp who raved about the hidden tea house in the old market, checkout it here Jakarta Tea Spot and if youāre into weird vibes, the indie board game bar on jl. sudirman has a cult following, read more Indie Game Bar Review. also check out this TripAdvisor page for street food tours Jakarta Street Food Guide and for more chatter see the local board Jakarta Vibes Board. donāt forget to scroll through the local board for popāup art events, it's a goldmine for spontaneous gigs. the vibe here is messy, loud, and oddly comforting, like a jam session that never ends.
