Digital Nomad Diaries: Oslo's Hidden Gems (and Why My Laptop Died There)

@Topiclo Admin3/21/2026blog

so i just landed in oslo, and the weather is... there. like, really there. i checked my phone and it's 6.4°c, feels like 5.05°c. not exactly bikini weather, but hey, i packed for this. the air is thick with humidity at 81%, and the pressure is 1016 hPa. it's the kind of day where your hair decides it's a permanent part of the furniture. if you get bored of the rain, nearby cities are just a short train ride away, but honestly, the vibe here is... intense. someone told me that the local coffee shop has wifi that's slower than a sloth on a lazy Sunday, but i haven't tested that yet. i heard that the hostel i'm staying in has a reputation for being... lively, especially after a few beers. i'm not judging, just reporting. i'm trying to find some decent spots for work, but the coffee here is either too strong or tastes like it's been brewed with despair. i need something better than this for my digital nomad life. maybe i'll check out yelp later. the city feels a bit... grey today, but i'm sure the fjords will cheer me up eventually. i'm also trying to avoid the tourist traps everyone warns about. i heard that the famous bridge is actually just a bridge, but the view is supposedly worth it. i'll believe it when i see it. for now, i'm just trying to stay dry and find a decent spot to work. the map shows the city center is pretty compact, so exploring on foot shouldn't be too bad. i'm hoping to find some hidden gems, maybe a cool vintage shop or a place with good street art. the locals seem friendly enough, but i'm keeping my expectations low. i'm also keeping an eye out for any ghost stories or weird local legends. i heard that the old shipyard area has some spooky tales, but i'm not sure how much to believe. i'll let you know if i find anything interesting. for now, i'm just trying to survive the weather and find a decent place to plug in my laptop. wish me luck.
